Frequently Asked Questions
Most of the questions we receive are answered right here! Take a moment to look over our FAQ to see the answers to our most popular questions.
How long until I receive my order?
Each of our products are handcrafted to order, which creates a production line. Typically, our production time is 5 business days from the time of your order. Once the order is produced, it ships out that evening with UPS Ground or USPS, depending on the weight of your order. Customers almost always receive their orders within 7-10 business days. If it has been more than 10 business days, then please contact us to see if there is an issue with the shipment.
Why was I notified that my order was shipped but the tracking hasn't been updated?
We create the shipping labels the day of your order so that it is immediately placed into our production line. This will notify you that your order has shipped; however, your tracking information will not update for 5-6 business days for the reason stated in the previous FAQ.
Do you have color samples?
Since the colors that we offer are not proprietary, we do not have color samples. We can match any Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore color, so you can consult with one of their swatches if you want to see the color in person. If the color that you need is not from one of those companies, then we can create a custom color formula for you for a $50 formulation fee. If you have a preexisting color that you want matched exactly, you can send us a sample, and we will match it.

Do you ship to Canada?
Yes! For all international orders, please contact us directly at info@firmolux.com with what you would like to order as well as your shipping details so that we can get an international shipping quote before invoicing you. Please note: Your order may be subject to a Duty Charge. Duty has nothing to do with us and is the importer's responsibility to factor in before ordering. Refusal of a delivery will result in a return shipping charge.
Why isn't my bucket full?
All of our products are sold by weight and will vary in standard-sized gallon buckets. Since the products vary in density, 5kg of one product will take up more or less space than 5kg of a different product in the same gallon bucket. So, although your bucket may not be filled, it does weigh the same as what you ordered and will yield the expected square footage that is listed.

Can I apply venetian plaster to this surface?
The ideal surface for Venetian plaster is a level 4 or 5 smooth surface. Regardless of the surface that you have, it needs to be as smooth as possible before applying your primer, as the primer will not fix joints or inconsistencies of depth. Select the primer that is closest to the granulation size of your plaster to set up your project for success. (See Below)
How Should I Prepare Brick For Venetian plaster?
- Clean the Bricks: Use a wire brush to remove any loose debris, dust, or soot. Clean the surface with a masonry cleaner like TSP (Trisodium Phosphate), following the manufacturer's instructions. Rinse well and allow it to dry completely.
- Protect Surrounding Areas: Lay drop cloths around the work area and use painter’s tape to protect adjacent surfaces.
- Prime the Surface: Apply a masonry primer to the clean, dry bricks. This helps with adhesion of the joint compound or skim coat. Let the primer dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Tape the Joints: Apply self-adhesive fiberglass mesh tape over the mortar joints of the bricks. This helps prevent cracking and provides a smoother surface for the skim coat.
- Mix and Apply Skim Coat: Prepare a joint compound or skim coat mix according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Apply the first coat over the bricks and mesh tape using a drywall taping knife. Spread a thin, even layer, covering the entire surface. Let it dry completely.
- Second Coat: Apply a second coat of joint compound to fill in any gaps and smooth out the surface. Use the taping knife to ensure an even finish. Let it dry thoroughly.
- Smooth the Surface: Once the second coat is dry, sand the surface with a sanding block or sandpaper (120-150 grit) to achieve a smooth finish.
